The typical way to give a command in French is to use the tu or vous form of the verb without using those subject pronouns (because the subject of a command is understood to be “you”), but the infinitive can also be used. The infinitive command is usually seen on signs and in recipes.

Laisser cuire à petit feu. (Simmer.)
Faites bouillir pendant cinq minutes. (Boil for five minutes.)
