What does cicatrize mean?
You've likely seen a cicatrix on a tree; it's the roundish scar left from where a branch was cut off. Cicatrize, the verb form, means to heal with the formation of a scar.
In Jane Eyre, Rochester is worried that his severe wounds would disgust Jane. (Rochester was blinded and maimed during the fire at Thornfield.)
"I thought you would be revolted, Jane, when you saw my arm, and my cicatrised visage."
