You know, you've got only 24 hours each day, and that covers everything: sleeping, working, hanging out with friends, eating, school, studying, and sports or other extra-curricular activities. When you add a new activity, you cut down on the other hours available. Your situation isn't hopeless, though; there are some things you can do to maximize the time that you do have available for studying: Make an appointment with yourself to study. This appointment should be just as concrete as your class schedule or your soccer practice. If you're home from practice at 8:00, get yourself something to eat and plan to spend from 8:30 to 10:00 each night studying. If it helps, go to the library for this time so you're not distracted by all of your stuff and never end up getting anything done. Give yourself realistic expectations. If you've been pretty lax about schoolwork, don't expect to change over a weekend. If you schedule eight hours of studying on Saturday to make up for the week, you're just going to end up bored and frustrated after 30 minutes and give the whole thing up. If you decide you'll study a more reasonable two hours, you'll probably actually get two hours of studying in. Prioritize what really needs to be done. Make a list of things that are due and when they're due, from the most urgent (studying for a test tomorrow) to the least urgent (organizing your school files). Work down your list in priority. Keep your eyes on the prize. Soccer season is a relatively short time; just accept that this is going to be a hectic time.
